  1. capitalization / decapitalization (errors) can be seen at is:template:wikivar
  2. LTR / RTL portability is tested at yi:template:wikivar
  • from user talk:Gangleri#wikivar: "Where is there more documentation on this template? Are all these uses sanctioned by the developers, or are large portions likely to be broken? This is pretty amazing stuff."
I did not find much documentation about many "magic words". This is why all links to MediaZilla: have been added.
I used intuitive syntax. Please take a look at is:template:wikivar to find out what works and what does not (transclusion of special pages is activated for some special pages only; capitalization / decapitalization neads fixing).

Thank you. --Connel MacKenzie T C 18:11, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

required templates[edit]

  • "template:wikivar" tests capitalization / decapitalization and MediaWiki:Linktrail functionality and requires
  1. template:alphabet upper case/en
the template is used to test {{LC:}} and MediaWiki:Linktrail in the "content language"
there is no syntax yet for "multi character entities": hr:template:alphabet upper case/hr contains "ABCČĆDDžĐEFGHIJKLLjMNNjOPRSŠTUVZŽ"
  2. template:alphabet lower case/en
the template is used to test {{UC:}} and MediaWiki:Linktrail in the "content language"
there is no syntax yet for "multi character entities": hr:template:alphabet lower case/hr contains "abcčćddžđefghijklljmnnjoprsštuvzž"
  3. template:diacritics/en
"diacritics" was a "bad" choice; In Swedish "åäö I would not consider letters with diacritics, since they are letters in their own right only (not completely as in German)..." (Sannab)
diacritics/en (and the corresponding templates in other languages) should contain all non basic Latin with characters code less then hex 7F of the "content language" (from "academic" point of view; loaned characters should probably be in special characters/en).
the template is used to test {{LCFIRST:}} in the "content language" (this makes only sense if diacritics/en starts with a upper case character)"
bugzilla:04119#c2 shows an example where linktrail is broken depending on the first character after a link
  4. template:special characters/en
the template is used to test MediaWiki:Linktrail in the "content language"
bugzilla:04119#c2 shows an example where linktrail is broken depending on the first character after a link
  5. template:alphabet sort order/entbd (tbd. to be defined) – for categories the definition of "category character headers" will be required; such headers can contain multiple characters; the syntax will probably require separator(s); line by line specification would facilitate RTL editing
  6. template:alphabet sort order (extended)/entbd – for "loaned" characters (loan words, surnames etc.)
  7. template:numbers/en
the template is used to test MediaWiki:Linktrail in the "content language"
  • "en" should be substituted with the language code for the content language.
  • Please note that the template should start with lower case characters at Wiktionaries. Gangleri | w: Th | T 13:50, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No transclusions, in content namespaces or elsewhere, and whatever its purpose is supposed to be, I think pages like mw:Help:Magic words and Special:Version fulfil it better. Keφr 16:00, 9 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
